WESTERN CAPE - Members of the Provincial Commercial Crimes unit arrested a 43-year-old woman who defrauded a Cape Town based distributing company she worked for. The suspect was responsible for managing and processing foreign creditors. She convinced clients to deposit company funds into her personal account, as a result, the company incurred a loss of R15 million. She was arrested on Thursday, 02 February 2023 for fraud. The suspect will make her court appearance in the Cape Town Magistrate’s court on Monday, 06 February 2023.
In an unrelated incident, a joint operation by Cape Winelands stations, Boland K9 unit, Law Enforcement, Crime Intelligence as well as the Department of Home affairs resulted in the arrest of an illegal immigrant was in possession of drugs in Paarl East yesterday. The suspect was arrested after the team received information that he was storing and transporting drugs from an apartment building in Paarl East. The members confiscated tik, heroin and mandrax, and he was then arrested and detained.
Once charged, the suspect will appear in the Paarl Magistrate’s court for possession of drugs and contravention of the immigration act.
Meanwhile, Sea point police arrested a male aged 37 and a 28-year-old female for dealing in drugs. The male suspect was nabbed by Sea Point SAPS members who were doing their patrols in the area. The suspect acted anxiously when he spotted the police and they requeste to search him. He had 40 packets of tik and Mandrax tablets, stashed in his abdomen. They proceeded to search his place of residence where they found a female who had tik and crushed mandrax in her handbag.
