Pacaltsdorp SAPS clamps down on crime through operation clean-up

Crimes associated with drug abuse and a recent spate of violence amongst youths whereby a 17-year-old boy of Pacaltsdorp has lost his hand, has necessitated the local police management to intensify their efforts to eradicate the prevalence of crime in general within their precinct, hence the arrests of a total of 43 suspects during the past week for various categories of crime, including arrests for wanted suspects.

 

Some of the suspects had already been brought before court whereas a total of 28-suspects have been charged to appear in the George Magistrate’s Court for a variety of charges ranging from possession of drugs to the possession of dangerous weapons and possession of suspected stolen goods, tomorrow, Monday, 27 September 2021.

 

Operation Clean-Up, an integrated crime combatting operation consisting of various police units, focussed on crime ridden residential areas within Pacaltsdorp such as Eden Park, New Dawn Park and the newly erected low housing residential neighbourhood known as Reiger Park, targeting and operationalizing information on known drug and liquor outlets. During these actions, members arrested amongst others, the following;

 

Twenty one (21) suspects for Possession of illegal Drugs (10 Mandrax and 11 for Tik)

One (1) for Dealing in Liquor

Three (3) suspects for the Possession of Dangerous Weapons

Seven (7) suspects for Housebreaking and Theft

Four (4) suspects for the Possession of Suspected Stolen Goods

Two (2) are wanted suspects and

One (1) suspect for Sexual Assault.

Members confiscated 73 full and 43 half Mandrax tablets, 12 bankies of Tik, one replica firearm, a two-way Traffic Radio-device and a scale used in the distribution and weighing of drugs and liquor. They also confiscated cash to the amount of R11 036.00, suspected to be from the proceeds of illicit drug and liquor trade.

 

The Acting Eden Cluster Commander, Brigadier Phumzile Cetyana commended the members involved in the arrest of the suspect for their vigilance and endurance to bring culprits of crime to book. “Their effort to eradicate the proliferation of major crime does not go unnoticed and create a safer environment for the Southern Cape residents”, he concluded.

 

Provincial Management has lauded the Pacaltsdorp Police management and members for their commitment and continued efforts to address the root causes of their crime situation adequately. They are encouraged to continue with these initiatives and actions in order to create a safer environment for all the residents of Pacaltsdorp.
