OTJIWARONGO – In the Otjozondjupa Region of Namibia, the settlement of Kalkfeld has been struck by tragedy with the report of a pensioner taking his own life.
According to NAMPA, the Namibian Police Force’s head of community affairs for the region, the incident occurred on Friday. Festus Hoeseb, a 68-year-old man from the Build Together location, was discovered by his son, hanging in his bedroom late on Friday night at around 22:45. The deceased was identified by his close relatives on the following day.
Details regarding the circumstances of Hoeseb’s death were sparse, but an autopsy is scheduled to take place at the Otjiwarongo State Hospital within the week to provide more clarity. Inspector Mbeha indicated that as of her last statement, there had been no suicide note found at the scene, and no indications of foul play had been suspected in the case.
An inquest docket has been initiated at the Kalkfeld Police Station, and investigative efforts are ongoing to understand the full context of this incident.
