Oshoopala: The Oshoopala satellite police station was officially commissioned at Oshakati on Wednesday . Oshakati Mayor Leonard Hango said Oshoopala has become a hotspot for crime as the population continues to grow . Hango said the satellite police station was opened after careful consideration and evaluation by the Namibian Police Force ( NamPol ). ‘ This new station will not only improve response times , but will also enhance community engagement and trust between law enforcement and members of the public ,’ he said . Speaking at the same occasion , NamPol ‘ s Oshana Regional Commander , Commissioner Naftal Lungameni Sakaria , indicated that Oshoopala has for too long been a problematic area and the opening of the satellite office will help curb criminal activities . He said Oshoopala has a reputation as being a refuge for criminals who rob people and hide in the area , sometime with the help of community members . ‘ We have come to the community and engaged them on the establishment of a neighbourhood wat
ch and the Women and Men Network . Today , if you come to Oshoopala and any criminal seeks to hide in the area , we will be aware of it ,’ he said . Oshoopala community leader Lysias Mutileni encouraged the community members to engage with the police officers as they are there to listen , support and collaborate in order to create a safe environment .
