EASTERN CAPE - More police on the ground in ensuring a crime free zone gives hope to our citizens as Police in Chris Hani District patrolled all areas during this long weekend.
Police conducted operations in ensuring safety in our communities and managed to arrest more than thirty suspects for various crimes that they committed. During their operations they also conducted roadblock with the traffics and fines to the value of more than R60 000-00 were issued to motorists that break the traffic laws.
Police were doing stop and search and checking compliance on taverns and closed the illegal shebeens. During their patrols they arrested suspects aged between 18 and 48 for possession of drugs, rape, selling liquor without license, murder, assault, drunken driving, theft and possession of illegal ammunition. As part of crime prevention liquor and dangerous weapons were confiscated by Police.
The Chris Hani District Commissioner, Major General Rudolph Adolph appreciated the job well done by the Police in ensuring that our citizens are safe and secure and liquor outlets are closed and liquor is confiscated.
These suspects are due to appear in different Magistrate courts tomorrow, 19 December 2022.
