Operation Vala Umgodi District Task Teams nabbed 11 illegal immigrants across two districts

Members attached to Operation Vala Umgodi, comprising of Vhembe and Capricorn District Task Teams, nabbed eleven suspects for contravention of the Immigration Act during an illicit mining operation that was executed at Thohoyandou, Malamulele and Polokwane policing areas on Sunday 20 October 2024.

The Vhembe District Task Team managed to arrest four illegal immigrants at Phangami mall in Thohoyandou policing area during stop and search patrol duties.

The Airwing Unit supported the operation that was conducted at Roodepoort mining sites and Polokwane Central Business District (CBD). While conducting crime prevention duties, police managed to apprehend seven male suspects for contravention of the Immigration Act.

The suspects, aged between 18 and 39, will appear before the Thohoyandou and Polokwane Magistrate’s Courts soon.
