WESTERN CAPE - On Friday, 6 January 2023 Western Cape police, Home Affairs and the City of Cape Town Law Enforcement agencies conducted an integrated operation in the Delft policing precinct where gang conflict, robberies and crimes such as Gender Based Violence are prevalent. Search warrants, roadblocks and foot patrols were executed and during the operation a total of 40 suspects were arrested on charges related to firearm, drugs, stolen property, undocumented persons and dealing in liquor without a license. Traffic fines to the value of R282, 300-00 were issued to unlicensed drivers and vehicles that are not roadworthy.
The arrested suspects will make their respective court appearances on Monday.
The Provincial Commissioner of the Western Cape, Lieutenant General Thembisile Patekile praised the members for their efforts in making the operation a success and ensuring that communities are safe guarded against criminals who think they can keep communities hostage. He added that these operations would continue to ensure that there are more boots on the ground in our communities.
