On Wednesday, 31 August 2022 Olifantsfontein SAPS Social crime prevention coordinator, communication officer, detective female members ,other SAPS male members, Youth crime prevention desk members ,EMPD and POWA conducted joint ‘Operation Basadi’ through a roadblock, gender-based violence awareness and tracing of wanted suspects on the R562 road in Olifantsfontein policing precinct led by Captain Magazi.
The following successes were achieved: five suspects were arrested by the female detectives, 154 motor vehicles searched, 15 tested motor vehicles, 269 persons searched and 32 traffic issued valued to R11 500.00.
A total of 200 pamphlets for drug and substance abuse, gender-based violence, Domestic violence, children's rights and POWA services distributed.
Captain Magazi welcomed the arrests and thanked the members for their efforts and dedication in the fight against crime that brought perpetrators to book.
The arrested suspects are expected to appear in Tembisa Magistrate’s Court soon.
