Okahandja United Aims Higher Despite Recent Defeat, Gariseb Remains Optimistic

WINDHOEK – Following a challenging match at the UNAM Stadium, Okahandja United Football Club’s coach, Richard Gariseb, holds a positive outlook for the remainder of the 2022/23 Premiership season. Despite a recent loss, the club’s aspirations to surpass last season’s performance remain undeterred.

According to NAMPA, Gariseb expressed his unwavering confidence in the team’s ability to climb higher than their current eighth position in the league standings. With a record of three wins, one draw, and four losses from eight matches, Okahandja United stands with 10 points in the season so far.

The team faced a significant setback against Khomas NamPol on Saturday, with a 4-0 defeat at the UNAM Stadium. Gariseb acknowledged the heavy loss but quickly turned the focus to future fixtures, emphasizing the importance of improvement in the upcoming games. The match saw George Frans lead Khomas NamPol with a goal in the first half, followed by a second-half performance that secured a total of four goals, including Frans’ brace, and one each from Rewaldo Prins and Absalom Iimbondi.

Gariseb, in his interview with Nampa, reaffirmed Okahandja United’s season goal. “Our target is to either finish in the top six or improve on last year’s result. What we need now is to perform better in our upcoming games,” he stated, setting a clear vision for the team’s path forward.

On the opposite side, Khomas NamPol’s head coach, Fortune Eichab, shared his ambitions with Nampa, aiming for a 24-point milestone by the end of the weekend. Eichab highlighted the team’s preparation for the demanding league matches ahead, indicating a strategic approach to accumulating the desired points.
