On Tuesday 2022-10-18 at approximately 19:00 it is alleged that R/Cst TV Mbangula was walking in the street after a shift when he was attacked by an unknown number of armed suspects who forced him into the nearby shebeen demanding that he knock so the owner can open.

He knocked on the door and the owner opened.  Four armed suspects stormed into the house demanding cash while the Reservist Constable remained behind with other suspects. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken from the safe.

While others were inside the house a shot was fired outside and it was discovered that the 50-year-old Reservist Constable Victor Mbangula was shot once in the head. The suspects took the Shebeen owner with and walked with him. While on the street, the suspects identified the loan shark’s son and they forced him at gun point to accompany them to his mother’s place intending to rob her. A concerned community member noticed and blew the whistle, and the suspects fled the scene.

Zastron Police were called to the scene and a hunt was launched to bring the suspects to book. Cases of Murder and House robbery were opened for investigation.
