Nzimande to Address Service Delivery Issues in Ixopo

Pretoria: The Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Blade Nzimande, is set to visit the Harry Gwala District Municipality in Ixopo, KwaZulu-Natal, on Wednesday. This visit forms part of his role as the District Development Model (DDM) Champion, a program that seeks to improve service delivery by promoting cooperation among all levels of government.

According to South African Government News Agency, Minister Nzimande's visit comes after a prior meeting with the Harry Gwala District Municipality and its neighboring local municipalities. The aim of this visit is to discuss the department's response to the concerns raised during the previous meeting. The engagement will also update the Minister on important matters such as the Status Report of the Political and Technical Hub and the Memorandum of Understanding between the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation and the Harry Gwala District Municipality.

Additionally, the meeting will cover proposed projects by the department's entity, the Technology Innovation Agency (TIA). The Department of Science, Technology and Innovation stated, "Minister Nzimande's visit is intended to present the department's response to the concerns that were raised in the meeting."
