WINDHOEK: The Namibian Police Force ( NamPol ) is hosting a policy development training workshop to equip officers with essential skills and knowledge necessary for the formulation and implementation of effective policies in Windhoek this week . NamPol Inspector – General , Lieutenant – General Joseph Shikongo at the opening of the week – long workshop said the training will cover various aspects of policy development , including strategic planning and procedural guidelines to ensure that officers are equipped to handle evolving challenges within the law enforcement field . Shikongo said law enforcement is ever – evolving and as the police navigate through a complex and dynamic world , it is imperative that its policies reflect the most current best practices and address the emerging challenges it faces . ‘ This training represents a significant step towards that goal . It is an opportunity for us to gain knowledge and skills that would allow us to develop and refine policies that will not only guide our oper
ations , but also fortify our resolve to serve with integrity , fairness , and efficiency ,’ he said . He stated that the training will allow the officers to delve into the intricacies of policy development , exploring innovative approaches and practical solutions . ‘ You will engage in rigorous discussions , share insights , and critically examine our existing frameworks . Our objective is clear , to formulate policies that are not only robust and responsive but also aligned with core values of justice and human rights ,’ he said . The course is further designed to capacitate members of the force with knowledge and a deeper understanding of policy development and urged all the officers to approach the workshop with an open mind and a collaborative spirit . ‘ The success of this endeavour hinges on our ability to work together , to listen actively , and to contribute thoughtfully . Let us leverage them to craft policies that will stand the test of time and truly serve the needs of our communities ,’ he said .
The training includes participation from 21 senior officers within the force . It ends on Friday .
