Windhoek: Senior officers of the Namibian Police Force ( NamPol ) convened at the police headquarters in Windhoek on Monday for a conference aimed at enhancing investigative practices to improve the crime clearance rate . The conference is taking place under the theme ‘ Effective Investigation for an Improved Clearance Rate ‘ and ends on Friday . NamPol Inspector General , Lieutenant General Joseph Shikongo , noted that the conference addresses concerns over the current crime clearance rate of 37 . 6 per cent for the 2023 / 24 financial year . This figure falls short of the 44 per cent target set for 2024 / 25 . Addressing the senior officers , Shikongo highlighted the importance of adapting to modern crime trends such as cybercrime , organised crime , and human trafficking . ‘ The focus is on refining investigative techniques to ensure thorough and efficient investigations that can withstand scrutiny in court ,’ the inspector general said . Shikongo also emphasised the importance of collaboration within the
criminal justice system , highlighting the need for stronger partnerships between police , prosecutors , and the judiciary . Participants were tasked with developing practical recommendations to improve the force ‘ s crime – solving capacity . These proposals will be reviewed by senior management for potential implementation across the Namibian Police Force .
