FICKSBURG – On 30 June 2018 the 37-year-old deceased, Pius Maqala Tshabalala’s body was found by the community on the outskirts of Zone 7 in Meqheleng. The deceased sustained stab wounds with his throat slit and missing body parts.
Detective Sergeant Mohlomi Mofolo received information about the murder suspect that was seen selling human body parts and later was reported to have crossed the Caledon River illegally to Lesotho where it was suspected that he had a prospective body part dealer.
A year later Detective Sergeant Mofolo received information that the suspect came back to visit his mother in Zone 6 where he was subsequently arrested. He was remanded in custody until he was found guilty of premeditated murder.
On 21 September 2021, the convict Mdaki Joseph Tladi was sentenced to twenty four years imprisonment for premeditated murder and is declared unfit to possess a firearm.
