In their ongoing efforts to enhance prime tourist destinations, the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs (MTCA) and the National Tourist Board (NTB) have planted trees along Lumley-Aberdeen Beach in Freetown. This initiative was part of the activities for July’s Environmental Awareness for Eco-Tourism Month, within the broader Tourism for All Campaign.

The tree-planting exercise was led by Tamba S. Bundor, Senior Tourist Officer and Team Lead for Eco-Tourism Awareness Month, alongside NTB’s Deputy General Manager Jeffery Moijweh and Product Development Manager Umaru Woody. The event also saw participation from other MTCA and NTB staff, as well as beach combers and marshals.

Tamba S. Bundor praised Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs Nabeela Tunis for her leadership and commitment to turning plans into action. He expressed gratitude to the beach combers and marshals for their support and encouraged them to care for the newly planted trees to ensure their healthy growth.

Umaru Woody highlighted the
importance of trees for human existence and their aesthetic appeal. He emphasized that the new trees will contribute to the beach’s beautification and play a role in mitigating climate change.
