GQEBERHA – While patrolling the hotspot areas in North End, SAPS Mount Road crime prevention members arrested four suspects, recovered a small amount of cocaine and confiscated a 7.65 calibre firearm.
At about 13:40 this afternoon, the members spotted a suspicious Datsun Go vehicle parked in Sebastian Road. As they cautiously approached the vehicle, they noticed the males smoking dagga and snorting cocaine inside the vehicle. Two packets of cocaine valued at R500-00 were found in possession of a 21-year-old male. On searching the vehicle, a 7.65 calibre firearm and 4 rounds of ammunition were found under the driver’s seat. All four males aged between 20 and 25 years old were detained on a charge of illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition. An additional charge of possession of drugs was added against the 21-year-old male. All the suspects are from Shauderville.
The firearm belonged to a deceased person. It will be sent to ballistics for forensic analysis.
All the arrested suspects are expected to appear in court soon.
