FREE STAT E- Viljoenskroon Police received a distress call at about 01:45 today about a fatal accident that about five kilometers on the R59 towards Bothaville.

On arrival members found two vehicles, a silver VW Polo and a 22 seater Mercedes Benz kombi.  It is alleged that the combi was from Viljoenskroon side heading towards Bothaville and the Polo was from Bothaville travelling towards Viljoenskroon when the two vehicles collided head-on. The accident claimed the lives of four people while others were rushed to different hospitals for medical attention.  The cause of the accident will form part of police investigation.

Viljoenskroon police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.
