WESTERN CAPE - Efforts by the Moorreesburg Crime Prevention Unit to protect the local community from criminals resulted in the arrest of an armed suspect last night. The members were deployed for crime prevention duties when they reacted on information and conducted a search operation at a residence which led to the discovery of a rifle without a serial number, 25 rounds of ammunition and 20 mandrax tablets. The 40-year-old man is detained until his court appearance on Monday in Moorreesburg where he will be facing charges for the possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition and the possession of drugs.
