More than a million rand worth of dagga seized

NELSPRUIT - The anti-crime farm watch did a superb job when 344 kilograms of dagga worth about R1 387 702 Million in street value was recovered in a certain farm outside Delmas on Monday, 20 February 2023 around 03h00 am.

The report indicates that members from the farm watch were visiting their counterparts when they noticed three vehicles inside the maize field.

When they drew closer to the vehicles to investigate, two bakkies (LDV) are said to have sped off, leaving a blue Ford SUV behind. As they approached the SUV and knocked on the window of the car, its driver somehow opened the door and fled the scene on foot leaving the vehicle behind.

When the car was inspected, it is reported that a discovery was then made of 31 bags fully loaded with dagga. Police were contacted and the dagga as well as the vehicle were confiscated.

Further investigation is ongoing with the intention of establishing the vehicle ownership and circumstances surrounding where the car was found (in the farm).

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela expressed her joy over the outstanding work performed by the stakeholders and the firm position they took in the fight against crime.
