Yesterday afternoon, the police officers from Montclair and Metro police followed up information regarding a vehicle that was involved in an armed robbery.

The vehicle was spotted on Aneleno Road in Montclair with three occupants and it was intercepted. Upon searching the suspects, they were found in possession of a pistol with seven rounds of ammunition as well as cellphones. It is alleged that the complainant was robbed of his cellphone at gunpoint by the suspects. The victim’s cellphone was among the recovered items. Three suspects aged between 17 and 22 were placed under arrest for charges of armed robbery, unlawful possession of a firearm, ammunition and possession of a stolen property.

The initial investigation was conducted and linked the suspects to another robbery that occurred in the Montclair policing area. The suspects are expected to appear before the Durban Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 17 January 2022.
