The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Oshikoto Region have opened a rape case against a 42-year-old Namibian man for allegedly raping his girlfriend’s 15-year-old daughter.
NamPol’s crime investigations coordinator for Oshikoto, Deputy Commissioner Titus Ekandjo, on Monday said the incidents allegedly occurred between March and August 2023 at Oshanashomupanda village in the Omuthiya Constituency.
According to the police, the woman and her boyfriend shared a bedroom with the victim and her siblings when the incidents occurred.
During the first incident in March 2023, the victim allegedly woke up to the suspect having sexual intercourse with her, Ekandjo said.
After the second incident in May 2023, the victim once again informed her mother and a family meeting was held where the suspect was warned by his family members to refrain from such acts, he added.
Ekandjo said the man allegedly raped the girl again in August 2023.
When the girl’s school learned about the incident, it brought the matter to the
attention of the police and a rape case was opened on behalf of the girl since the girl’s mother did not want to open a case against her boyfriend.
No arrest has been made in connection with the matter yet, but police investigations continue.
