The Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs convened an Inter-Ministerial Dialogue today to coordinate efforts for the upcoming Women in Tourism Regional Congress, scheduled to take place from 29th October to 31st 2024, at the Freetown International Conference Centre.

The Meeting was held at the ministry’s Conference hall, bringing together crucial Ministries, Departments, Agencies (MDAs), and other stakeholders to discuss their roles and responsibilities in ensuring the event’s success. Deputy Secretary Mr. Sahr Philip Morsay chaired the session, which focused on progress updates and preparations.

Mr Morsay outlined the ministry’s significant strides, including negotiations with major airlines like Kenya Airways, Ethiopian Airlines, Air Maroc, and Brussels Airlines to facilitate travel for delegates. The dialogue provided a platform for MDAs such as the Office of National Security, Sierra Leone Police, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and others to affirm their commitment to providing security, support, and
coordination for the event.

Deputy Minister Khadijatu Grace Kamara expressed her satisfaction with the MDAs’ responses. She emphasized the importance of collaboration and highlighted that the congress would include discussions and practical activities showcasing Sierra Leonean culture. These activities will feature a delegate tour, including unique experiences like the thrilling ‘Keke Ride’ and a memorable ‘Dinner on the Beach,’ and brainstorming sessions focusing on women’s issues.

Kamara encouraged the “She Can, We Can” organisation to engage in dialogues about women-related issues and ensure that the event fully represents Sierra Leonean heritage. She thanked all attendees for their commitment and reiterated that the success of the congress depends on the collective effort and support of all stakeholders.
