Minister Thoko Didiza hosts interactive engagement session with rural women farmers in Mahikeng, 11 Mar

Engagement with rural women in Agriculture, Agro-Processing and Agri Business

The Minister of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development, Ms Thoko Didiza, will host an interactive engagement session with rural women farmers across the value chain in Mahikeng at Kgora Training Centre, on 11 March 2022.

 

The purpose of this engagement session is for the minister to interact with rural women with the view to identify and address their challenges in advancing the focus areas of the 66th Commission on Status of Women. The engagement coincides with the 66th Session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (UNCSW), which is scheduled to take place at the UN Headquarters in New York from 12 to 23 March 2022.

 

Representatives of UN Member States, UN Entities and NGOs accredited by the UN from all regions of the globe will participate in the session. The 66th Session will be considered under two themes, which are as follows:

 

The priority theme: “Achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls in the context of climate change, environmental and disaster risk reduction policies and programmes”; and

The review theme: “Women’s economic empowerment in the changing world work”.
