Minister Didiza hosts Foot and Mouth Disease Management and Market Access Information Day in Hlomela Village, Limpopo
The Minister of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development, Ms. Thoko Didiza, together with her provincial counterpart, MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development in the Limpopo Province, Ms Nandi Ndalane, will on Friday, 9 September 2022, host Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) Management and Market Access information day in Hlomela Village, Limpopo.
This initiative is an intervention exercise for awareness raising to conscientize the Hlomela community and surrounding communities in Giyani about the FMD as well as the dos and don’ts during the period of FMD prevalence and to build knowledge on how to handle future FMD outbreaks.
The country is battling the outbreaks of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) in provinces of Limpopo, Free-state, Northwest, KZN and Gauteng and this disease is concentrated in the farming and communal areas of these provinces. the minister of Agriculture Land Reform and Rural Development has declared a countrywide ban on the movement of cloven hoof animals, including clamping down on illegal movement of animals, in August to curb the spread, defeat the FMD and return to normal situation of economic.
