Minister Mthethwa pays tribute to Archbishop Desmond Tutu, a beacon of reconciliation

Sport, Arts and Culture, Minister Nathi Mthethwa will on Tuesday, 22 February 2022 host a memorial lecture in honour of Archbishop Desmond Tutu, a true humanitarian and a beacon of reconciliation, social cohesion, and nation building. The lecture will take place at the Vaal University of Technology, Vanderbijlpark Campus.

Hosted in collaboration with the Vaal University of Technology (VUT), South African Council of Churches and the Desmond Tutu Foundation, this public lecture will pay tribute to the sterling role played by the late Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu as an anti-apartheid and human rights activist in efforts to build a socially cohesive society.

Dr Desmond Tutu is a renowned reconciliation icon, a spiritual leader, and a global human rights campaigner. Tutu not only fought against apartheid regime but most importantly served as the voice of the voiceless. He embodied the kind of leadership that sought paradigm shift.
