Minister Kubayi to convene Human Settlements Indaba to fast-track delivery
In an effort to respond to South Africa’s housing demand, the Minister of Human Settlements Mmamoloko Kubayi, will on the 4th and 5th September 2022, convene a Human Settlement and Exhibition Indaba in eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality, KwaZulu-Natal.
The Indaba will be held under the theme: “Transforming Human Settlements environment through accelerated planning, implementation and public-private partnership”. It aims to mobilise private investors, academia, NGOs and traditional leaders to partner with the government to accelerate the delivery of sustainable human settlements across the country.
In line with this administration’s pronouncements and the 2019-2024 Medium Term Strategic Framework on the importance of transforming human settlements into well-functioning, socially and economically integrated places, the Indaba will also strengthen strategic partnerships with sector stakeholders. This will ensure that the government realises spatial transformation, adequate housing and security of tenure through the provision of housing opportunities and improved quality of living environments.
The Indaba is expected to be attended by various Ministers and Deputy Ministers from different Ministries, MECs of Human Settlements, Mayors, executives of financial institutions, developers, civil society and community-based organisations.
