Minister Zulu conducts pre-SONA oversight service delivery visits in the Western Cape
In the run up to this year’s State of the Nation Address (SONA), the Minister of Social Development, Ms Lindiwe Zulu, will conduct a series of service delivery oversight visits in the Western Cape Province
The visits will entail interaction with a number of community based organisations engaged in training, skills and employment opportunities for young people, who according to the Quarterly Labour Force Survey are disproportionately affected by the record high levels of unemployment in South Africa. Amongst these engagements, Minister Zulu will host a dialogue with young women in Saldanha Bay area, which will be preceded by a visit to Mfesane, a youth development and empowerment organisation funded by the National Development Agency (NDA). Through grant funding, the NDA has established a number of start-up businesses for youth entrepreneurs within the Saldanha Bay area
Minister Zulu will also launch the Social Security Review, a peer reviewed publication that offers in-depth discussions on topical issues and studies on social security and also conduct a public participation programme focusing on gangsterism and the intersection with drugs, violence and other social ills in Lavender Hill.
