The City of Cape Town continues to provide dignity to qualifying beneficiaries across the metro by empowering them with their title deeds. Today, 8 March 2022, 35 Mfuleni residents received their title deeds from the City’s Human Settlements Directorate.
The City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Human Settlements, Councillor Malusi Booi and officials in the Human Settlements Directorate celebrated with residents as they received their title deeds and became first-time homeowners. Over the coming months, the City will hand over an additional 590 title deeds to Mfuleni residents.
These transfers were made possible by the funding received from the Free Market Foundation’s Khaya Lam (My Home) initiative.
‘Handing over of title deeds to beneficiaries is one of the City’s key priorities to bringing about redress, and today we celebrate with the latest Mfuleni property owners. Over recent months, the City handed over title deeds to beneficiaries in areas across the metro and we will continue to do so in the coming months.
‘Title deeds provide dignity to homeowners and may empower future generations. We encourage the new property owners to continue to look after their homes, keep up with the necessary maintenance and make responsible decisions about insurance and wills, as these assets may be passed down for many generations to come.
‘The City thanks the Free Market Foundation’s Khaya Lam (My Home) initiative for their generous donation which assisted in making the property transfer possible,’ said Councillor Booi.
