ALIWAL NORTH – SAPS members’ daily crime prevention patrols and high visibility yield positive results in Aliwal North.

On Sunday at about 15:45 Seargent Bulani from the Aliwal North CSC was patrolling at the main road next to Joe Gqabi residential area when he noticed some men arguing and fighting. He approached them in order to intervene.

As he was on his way to them he was called by a shepherd who is looking after stock of the communal farmers.

The shepherd informed him that they were men in the area where he was looking after the sheep that stood next to some trees acting as if they were to relieve themselves but were in the meantime slaughtering one of the sheep he was looking after.

As the shepherd was approaching them they decided to run away. Seargent Bulani immediately realized that it had to be the men he was to approach as the shepard describe them to him.

He then managed to apprehend two suspects age 37 and 50-year-old and also confiscated the okapi knife they used to slaughter the sheep.

After all the administrative processes the carcass was handed over to the lawful owner.

The acting District Commissioner Brig Rudolph Adolph commended the member on his attentiveness and quick response. He also reminded all other members how important role our crime prevention patrols play as part of our daily tasks.
