POTCHEFSTROOM - In an effort to intensify the fight against crime and going back to basics, the Director for Public Prosecution for North West, Dr Rachel Makhari-Sekhaolelo, the Provincial Commissioner of North West, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena and the Provincial Head of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI), Major General Patrick Mbotho met and resolved that it is imperative that all stakeholders at all levels, continuously engage to foster relations through a Joint Conference and Training. The aim of the conference is to promote collaboration with one another on matters of common interest to ensure the provision of excellent services to communities. Apart from instilling the spirit of working together in the lower level command structures in the three entities, the engagement will assist to strengthen cooperation, coordination and identify issues relating to programmes of preventing crime and corruption. Subsequent to the conference, there will be ongoing joint training and workshops of Prosecutors and Investigators throughout the province.
The engagements will commence with a Joint Conference hosted by the three entities on Friday, 19 August 2022. The conference will be attended mainly by Investigators and Prosecutors in the province. It is expected that various guests speakers including the DPCI National Head, Lieutenant General Godfrey Lebeya, Special Director of Investigative Directorate at the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Advocate Andrea Johnson and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the South African Banking Risk Information Centre (SABRIC), Mr Newallal, will attend and address delegates on various topics.
