POTCHEFSTROOM – The MEC for Community Safety and Transport Management, Mr Sello Lehari and the Provincial Commissioner of North West, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena, will launch the provincial Safer Festive Season Operation in the North West. This year’s Safer Festive Season Operations are being held under the theme, “More boots on the ground towards enhanced police visibility”. The launch ushers in a heightened period of police visibility effective immediately up to and including 31 January 2023. During this period, the SAPS will come up with innovative ways to augment crime prevention initiatives.

In the evening, the Provincial Commissioner will host the 10th Provincial Annual Excellence Awards ceremony wherein South African Police Service employees will be awarded in more than 20 different categories for the financial year 2021/2022. The Categories will include amongst others the best investigating officer, best administration employee and Station Commander of the year.
