Media Invitation: Police Ministry leads Crime Prevention Street Imbizo in Soweto

GAUTENG – Police Minister, General Bheki Cele will on Thursday, 28 April 2022, lead a Ministerial Street Imbizo in Pimville Soweto.

The Ministry of Police returns to the Kliptown policing area in Soweto to further engage community members on identified crimes and policing concerns. The Police Minister will together with the national and provincial management of the South African Police Service, engage the community of Pimville and surrounding areas to find lasting solutions to their crime concerns.

The Street Imbizo comes off the back of the initial visit to the area by the Police Minister on Wednesday 20 April 2022, following a cable theft related shooting incident that claimed the life of Pimville resident Kgomotso Diale and injured five others last week.

Two people have since been arrested and charged for the murder and attempted murders.

The Ministerial Street Imbizo seeks to provide residents with a platform to discuss and engage the SAPS, on identified crimes plaguing the community and at the same time promote and improve relations between police and the community at large.

Members of the media are invited to attend the Street Imbizo.
