As the South African Police Service (SAPS) calls for greater cooperation from communities to end police killings, Police Minister, General Bheki Cele will on Wednesday, 19 October 2022, pay homage to two on duty SAPS members who were brutally attacked and killed on Thursday, 13 October 2022 in Boksburg, East of Johannesburg.
The 29-year-old Constable Khotso Malahlela and 45-year-old Sergeant Vusimuzi Batsha both attached to the Boksburg North Police Station, were responding to a complaint of an unnatural death in the area when they were accosted by three males. At the time of the attack, the pair were waiting for a mortuary van to arrive on the scene, when they were disarmed and fatally wounded.
Police investigations continue to apprehend the three suspects who also made off with both the officers’ service pistols and bullet proof vests.
Minister Cele will be joined by the SAPS management in remembering the fallen officers.
Members of the media are invited to attend the memorial service.
