PRETORIA – The Police Ministry remains encouraged by the mobilisation of maximum policing resources to track down and find those responsible for the Saturday evening shooting that claimed the lives of six people in Finetown, Ennerdale on Saturday, 29 October 2022.
According to police reports, four suspects attempted to rob street vendors selling chicken feet. The vendors allegedly resisted and threw stones at the suspects and their vehicle’s rear window was damaged.
The suspects drove off and came back on foot, armed with firearms, they then shot at the vendors and bystanders shooting 11 people, six succumbed to their injuries and five people are recovering in hospital.
Police Minister General Bheki Cele will on Monday, 31 October 2022, receive a full report from the South African Police Service (SAPS), led by Gauteng Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen Elias Mawela on the shooting incident as well as overall policing in the area.
