Minister Simmers encouraged by citizens positive response to the delinking of FLISP
Six weeks since the implementation of the FLISP Delinked policy on April 1 2022, the Provincial Minister of Infrastructure Tertuis Simmers is thrilled at the response of the citizens of the Western Cape which has been overwhelmingly positive and encouraging.
- The number of applications received physically for FLISP as from the 1st April is 357
- The number of applications captured by external users (Imports from Housing Subsidy System) is 150
- The total number of applications received and processed physically is 128
- The number of applications received physically that are delinked 4
The Western Cape Government lobbied hard in recent years for these amendments, which will enable greater access to FLISP.
The Department urges the public to take up this opportunity; if you previously were ineligible to access FLISP and you are resident with a household income of R 3 501 – R 22 000 per month, you are now able to access Help Me Buy A Home.
The implementation of the Revised policy will be done on a phased approach and is now in the First Phase.
In this phase, the focus is on applications where a potential beneficiary is:
- Accessing a mortgage loan
- Making a cash contribution in respect of the shortfall
- Is not required to contribute since the subsidy covers the selling price
- Pension backed mortgage loan (to be paid to transferring attorneys and stipulated on proforma statement)
Western Cape Minister of Infrastructure Tertuis Simmers said: “It is very pleasing to see the public’s response to the revised delinked FLISP policy. This is ultimately what we envisaged when we advocated for these amendments so that more citizens have the opportunity to access the property market.”
“As the Western Cape Government, we remain committed to accelerating human settlement delivery, while promoting social inclusion through the development of integrated, resilient, safe and sustainable human settlements in an open opportunity society,” concluded Simmers.
