MEC for Finance to table the 2022/23 Provincial Budget
The MEC for Finance, Motlalepula Rosho will execute her legislative responsibility as stipulated under Chapter 4, Section 27 (2) of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) by tabling the provincial annual budget for the 2022/23 financial year.
The section stipulates that the MEC for Finance in a province must table the provincial annual budget for a financial year in the provincial legislature no later than two weeks after the tabling of the national annual budget, but the Minister may approve an extension of time for the tabling of the provincial budget.
The tabling of the budget comes following the recent tabling of the National Budget speech by Minister of Finance, Mr Enoch Godongwana.
“This budget speech comes during the mid-term of the of the sixth administration and as such it will cover the administration’s achievements and challenges particularly those presented by COVID-19 and strategies implemented by government to respond appropriately to the deadly virus with the intention of saving lives and livelihood and ensure that we create conducive conditions to set our province on the path of job creation and economic growth,” says MEC Rosho.
Key issues expected to be the highlights in the budget include provincial economic outlook, infrastructure development, provincial expenditure pattern, allocations of funds to departments, audit improvement plan and support plan for struggling municipalities, amongst others.

The budget will be broadcast live on various communication platforms across the province and will also be live on the departmental facebook page. Alternatively Budget documents will be made available on the Provincial Treasury website (www.treasury.nwpg.gov.za) during delivery of speech.
