Tigane CHC Temporarily Closed for Decontamination due to COVID-19 Cluster Cases
Hartbeesfontein – The North West Department of Health can confirm that there are 12 positive COVID-19 cases reported at Tigane CHC at Hartbeesfontein just outside Klerksdorp in the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District.
The Department can also confirm that 10 of the reported positive cases are professional nurses.
The clinic is currently closed for decontamination and rearranging of services since there is no extra staff available. Contact tracing to determine the contacts of the affected staff has started, all the affected staff and their contacts once identified will be expected to strictly comply with COVID-19 regulation on isolation.
The night staff will resume day duties tomorrow on the 09 December 2021, since they were not affected. As a temporary measure, the clinic will run as a five day 8 hour from 09 -19 December 2021 and thereafter all services will return to normal.
This development calls for intensified awareness, adherence to prevention measures and the need to upscale the vaccination campaign.
MEC Madoda Sambatha will therefore visit the CHC and the surrounding community to raise awareness and encourage people to vaccinate.
The media is invited to the visit where the MEC will also give an update of intervention to ensure continuation of services as follows:
