Mashatile to attend Unisa’s annual spring graduation ceremony

Deputy President Paul Mashatile will on Friday attend the annual spring graduation ceremony of the University of South Africa (Unisa) at its Muckleneuk campus in Pretoria.

The Deputy President, according to a statement, will attend the ceremony at the invitation of the Principal and Vice Chancellor of Unisa, Professor Puleng LenkaBula.

“This year’s graduation coincide’s with the University’s 150th anniversary as a leading comprehensive, open distance e-learning institution, which continues to produce quality graduates, contributing to the country’s human capital,” the Deputy President’s Office said.

During the spring graduation ceremonies, the university will confer honorary degrees on outstanding individuals in recognition of services rendered to their communities in particular and the country in general.

His Grace Dr Engenas Joseph Lekganyane, the Bishop of the St Engenas Zion Christian Church, will become the latest distinguished person to join the list of illustrious Unisa alumni when the university confers on him the honorary degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Theology.

“This is in recognition of His Grace’s outstanding achievements and globally impactful societal contributions to peace, social cohesion, as well as successful and resilient African-initiated institutions in the 21st century,” the statement said.
