EAST LONDON – Police are searching for a murder suspect who is believed to be involved in the killing of a 34-year-old farmer from the Waterfall farm on Saturday night, 26 June 2021 near Thornvlei road of the N6 Beacon Bay in East London.
According to the reports, the 34-year-old farmer was doing patrols on the Thornvlei road when he noticed a suspicious vehicle. He immediately called the neighbouring farmers for reinforcement. On arrival, the farmers found the 34-year-old seriously injured with stab wounds in his upper body. At the time of their arrival, the farmer was reportedly still alive and was able to provide information about the incident, however, he later succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
It is believed that three suspects attacked the farmer with knives before he retaliated with his firearm. Subsequently, two of the three suspects in their 20’s were found in an open field with gunshot wounds not far from the crime scene.
The motive for the incident is currently not known, but it forms part of the investigation. A murder case and two inquest dockets have been registered for investigation. No arrest has been made at this stage. Police investigations continue.
