NORTHERN CAPE – A 34-year-old suspect Nzuzo Buqa, made a brief appearance at the Springbok Magistrate court today for illegal possession of mandrax tablets.

The suspect was arrested on Tuesday, 12 July 2022 during an intelligence driven operation comprising of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, Upington Narcotics, Springbok Vispol and Local Criminal Record Centre.

Members received information about a suspect transporting drugs from Besig to Okiep. A disruptive operation was immediately conducted and the suspected vehicle was spotted and pursued. During the vehicle search, 312 boss mandrax tablets to an estimated value of R24 960-00 were found and the suspect was apprehended.

The matter was postponed to Monday, 18 July 2022 for bail application.
