FORT BEAUFORT: Dedication shown by vigilant Queenstown Public Order Police Unit (POP) members led to the arrest of a 46-year-old man in Fort Beaufort yesterday, 28 March 2022 for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
The Public Order Policing Unit members were deployed in Fort Beaufort for operational duties when they spotted a suspicious vehicle and stopped it. Police searched the vehicle and found the unlicensed firearm with ammunition. The man was arrested and a case was opened.
The suspect is due to appear at the Fort Beaufort Magistrates' Court soon.
The Acting Amathole District Commissioner Brigadier Ngangema Xakavu appreciated the excellent job done by the police as a firearm is removed from the wrong hands.
