A 24-year-old man has died from a single stab wound to the chest in the Okakarara State Hospital, where he was taken for medical attention on Wednesday.
Namibian Police Force (NamPol) Unit Commander for Community Affairs in the Otjozondjupa Region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha, said in an interview with Nampa on Thursday the deceased was identified by relatives as Mbinovandu Hindjou.
Preliminary police investigations suggest that Hindjou was involved in a physical fight at a bar in Okakarara. The stabbing occurred at approximately 23h00 on Wednesday, and a 28-year-old suspect was arrested the same night.
“Hindjou was found with a stab wound on the left lower chest, and upon arrival at Okakarara State Hospital, he succumbed to the injury,” said Mbeha.
The suspect in the matter was arrested Wednesday night and is expected to appear in the Okakarara Magistrate's Court on Friday. Police investigations into the matter are ongoing.
