Man convicted to eight years imprisonment for attempted rape

Klaas Beukes (32) has been found guilty and sentenced to eight years imprisonment by the Carnarvon Regional Court. On Monday, 04 October 2021 Klaas pleaded guilty to a charge of attempted rape and was sentenced to eight years direct imprisonment. During court proceedings, it came to light that on 12 December 2020, the victim was sleeping when Klaas entered her house and undressed her. The victim’s husband entered the house and caught Klaas red-handed in the act.

 

He escaped and was later arrested. He was denied bail and remained in police custody until his court appearance and sentenced.

 

The Provincial Head of Family violence, Child protection and Sexual Offence Unit, Brigadier Nicky Mills applauded Sergeant Marlon Eksteen for the meticulous investigation which resulted in Klaas’ imprisonment.  Klaas was declared unfit to possess a firearm by the Carnarvon Regional Court.
