FREE STATE – A 31-year-old man from Ezenzeleni near Warden is expected to appear before Vrede Magistrate court on charge of possession of unlicensed firearm.
On 13 November 2021 at approximately 21:25 the two police officers from Roadside were patrolling on the N3 when they came across the white suspicious Ford Focus sedan with FS registration and stopped it.
They requested to search the vehicle as they were four passengers and the driver in the car. They were asked to get out of the car and when they started to search them they found a firearm on the driver’s door panel. The driver said the firearm belonged to him and couldn’t provide the police with any licence. The driver was arrested and detained. A 9mm pistol and empty magazine was seized and kept as exhibit.
The Provincial Commissioner of Free State, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane thanked the members for the excellent execution of their duties on a national road and seizure of a firearm that was in wrong hands.
