POLOKWANE- The police in Lulekani outside Phalaborwa have arrested a 71-year-old suspect for the alleged fatal stabbing of his wife aged 45, at Biko Settlement on Tuesday, 16 August 2022 at about 12: 00.
The police received information about the incident and swiftly responded. Upon arrival at the scene they found the deceased who had suffered multiple stab wounds inside the house. She was identified as Patricia Ngobeni. A sharp object believed to be the weapon that was used to commit the murder was found on the scene.
The suspect was later arrested after he handed himself over to the police at the Lulekani police Station. The motive for the murder is not clear at this stage however, domestic violence cannot be ruled out.
The suspect will appear in the Lulekani Magistrate's Court on Thursday, 18 August 2022 facing a charge of murder.
The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has expressed shock at another senseless act where a vulnerable woman was brutally killed at the hands of someone she trusted to protect her. “We expect that our investigators will vigorously investigate this matter to ensure the suspect's ultimate conviction", said Lieutenant General Hadebe.
