Man arrested after suspected stolen boats and trailers worth thousands of rands foun on his business premises

A 60-year-old man was arrested by the police in Fontainebleau in Linden after 18 boats and 19 trailers suspected to be stolen were found I’m his premises on Monday 14 February 2022.

Police received information about a second-hand dealer that is selling boats and trailers with Vehicle Identification Numbers that are tampered with. Members of Provincial Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit, Tracker Connect and Procincial Head Office Reservists operationalised the information and pounced into the business premise in Linden where they found 18 boats and 19 trailers with Vehicle Identification Numbers tampered with. At the premises, police also found stencils that are suspected to be used for installing new VINs.

The owner of the business was arrested and charged with fraud, contravention of Second Hand Goods and contravention of Road Traffic Act and more charges might be added.

He is expected to appear at Ranburg Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday 15 February 2022.
