EASTERN CAPE - A33 year old man was found guilty at Cacadu Regional Court on Thursday 17, March 2022.

During June 2019, the 74-year-old victim was sleeping alone in her homestead at Raqo Administrative Area when the suspect entered and raped her.

A case of rape was opened and docket was assigned to Detective Sgt Vizicelo Ludidi. Ludidi sacrifies many hours during investigation and suspect was arrested and bail was successfully opposed.

On Thursday, 17 March 2022 suspect Khanyiso Maqhwazima was sentenced to undergo life imprisonment.

Chris Hani Acting District Commissioner, Brigadier Zuziwe Magqashela congratulated the investigating officer and said she understand the complexity of the investigation and the challenges that he encountered. She extend profound thanks to the prosecution team who worked with the victim and investigating officer.
