Male arrested in Bholothwa for attempted murder

BHOLOTHWA – On Thursday, 23 September 2021, a 58-year-old male suspect was arrested for attempted murder during operation Gijima Tsotsi, excecuted in Bholothwa.

 

It is alleged that a 71-year-old victim was involved in a quarrel with the suspect on 22 September 2021, who then went home and returned with a firearm. A shot was fired and the victim sustained a gunshot wound to the left hand thumb.

 

During the early hours of this morning the suspect was arrested at the Esingeni locality in Mbinzana A/A, Bholothwa on charges of attempted murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. A firearm and ammunition were also confiscated.

 

The suspect will appear before the Bholothwa Magistrates Court on 28 September 2021 on related charges.

 

The Acting Chris Hani District Commissioner, Brigadier Magqashela applauded the efforts of Captain Velapi and his team for their continuous efforts to rid local communities of illegal firearms that drive incidents of murder and attempted murder.
