Macassar and Delft police confiscate drugs

Continued efforts by Macassar police and Delft Crime Prevention Unit to get rid of drugs in our streets, yielded positive results today Thursday, 03 October 2024 when members arrested five suspects respectively for the illegal possession of drugs.

According to reports, early this morning at about 03:00. Macassar SAPS members were on duty when they saw a speeding vehicle and followed it to the R102 and near a petrol station, they decided to pull the vehicle over. They then searched the vehicle together with the occupants. The members found 320 units mandrax tablets and 382 grams of sachets of presumed crystal meth in the vehicle.

The four occupants including one woman aged between 31 and 44 were arrested and detained at Macassar SAPS for the possession of drugs.

In a separate incident early this morning at around 08:30, members attached to Delft Crime Prevention Unit were busy with crime prevention duties when they received information about a male wearing a red hoody walking in Leiden Avenue in possession
of drugs. The members responded to the identified address and they spotted the person who fitted the description that was given. The male was stopped and searched and a plastic with 150 mandrax tablets was confiscated.

A 31-year-old man was arrested and detained at Delft SAPS for possession of drugs.

The two suspects will appear in the Strand and Bellville Magistrates’ courts respectively on the mentioned charges.
