To mitigate the effects of seaweed (Sargassum) on Lumley-Aberdeen beach, Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs and the National Tourist Board alongside its partners have embarked on yet another clearing of debris and Waste along Lumley-Aberdeen Beach in Freetown.
The endeavour seeks to reduce dirt and human waste off the surface of the beach in order to cushion the effects of the prevailing seaweeds on the beach that the Ministry and NTB are grappling to contain.
Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Nabeela Farida Tunis, Permanent Secretary, Edward Kwame Yankson, General Manager, NTB, Fatmata Hamid Carew, staff of Ministry and NTB as well as other partners were all in full swing to during the cleaning exercise.
The Ministry is calling on more partners to come on board in order to find a sustainable solution to addressing the seaweed and restoring our prime coastal touristic sites to its beautiful ambience.
